Well, me….. I watched the latest movie from the Star Trek franchise yesterday. The movie is entitled Star Trek and it hit the theatres on May 7, 2009. As very usual, the movie is directed by J.J Abrams and is produced by Paramount Pictures. It is the eleventh movie production of Star Trek franchise. Before we go into the details of the movie, let me make you feel glad by jotting down that the twelfth Star Trek movie is in production. Most probably, the new movie would hit the theaters in 2011. It would also be the time to celebrate forty-fifth anniversary of Star Trek franchise.
All the Star Trek: The Original series characters made their appearances in the movie version. Though initially I was little afraid of it, but the new faces portrayed respective characters in a brilliant manner. The new star-cast made the fans feel satisfied after watching the movie….kudos to them. The character of James T. Kirk is portrayed by Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto appeared as Spock. All the events are set in 2387. The storyline of the movie revolves around James and Spock as they both united to fight against Nero, a Romulan who threatens the United Federation of Planets.
It was 2005 when the production of the movie began. At first, it was decided to bring the movie to theatres on December 25, 2008. The release date was later extended to May, 2009. The sole aim behind so was to release it on a wider scale. The budget of the movie is $150 million and the gross revenue is $376,298,288. The total running time of the movie is 127 minutes. The movie is the third highest grossing United States Box Office movie of 2009. Leading it are the movies Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Disney/Pixar’s Up. Due to its well representation and high quality of stuff, Star Trek movie received high critical praise.
